flame answer
The taller candle goes out first because it ran out of oxygen first. The carbon dioxide gas was warmer than the remaining oxygen in the jar which caused the carbon dioxide to rise and displace the remaining oxygen in the jar to a lower lever which caused the taller candle to go out first.
Candle experiment
Are 2 candles going to burn faster than 1? Yes because the oxygen is at the bottom of the jar due to being heavier.
Does the height of the candle matter? Yes. The lowest lasted longer.
Does using a max amount of candles make a difference in any way? Not really. The lowest one always goes out last.

Answer: We think the oxygen is being pushed out by the CO2 and therefore causes the taller flame to go out first.

Jeran says it's the air current caused by the different temperatures in the jar.
